The Scorpio® femoral design is based on natural knee mechanics. It is designed to match the shape of the femoral condyles from an externally rotated view (down the epicondylar axis) of the knee, rather than a straight lateral view. This unique design has the potential to provide a variety of benefits which can include quicker return to full active extension, improved ligament stability, less anterior knee pain and earlier flexion. The Scorpio® femoral component is sized based on proportionality. The total growth between sizes is 4.5 millimeters and occurs 2.5mm anteriorly and 2mm posteriorly, based on the center of the posts. The posts move 2mm anteriorly from the posterior condyles and the anterior flange moves 2.5mm anteriorly from the posterior condyles. The Scorpio® System offers a wide range of femoral augments to accommodate a full spectrum of clinical applications. When using augments on CR and PS, cement fixation is required.
